|Marsha Qualey's first novel for adults, Venom and the River: A Novel of Pepin, has just been released by Untreed Reads, a leading digital publisher.
Her previous publications include several young adult novels. Those books have appeared on numerous best-of-the-year lists, including ALA Quick Picks and Best Books for Young Adults, IRA Young Adults' Choices, New York Public Library's Books for the Teen Age, and School Library Journal's Best Books of the Year. Her books have won two Minnesota Book Awards, and one, Thin Ice, was nominated for an Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America. Her novels have been included on many state, school district, and library reader's choice lists.
A veteran writing teacher, she has developed and presented a variety of writing workshops for writers of all ages. She is also on the faculty of Hamline University's MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults program and is the managing editor of an e-magazine, Bookology.
Marsha Qualey is a native of Austin, Minnesota. While she has lived in many regions of the U.S., she considers the upper Midwest her home base, and it is the setting for all of her novels. She and her husband, Dave Qualey, live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They have four children and two grandchildren.
